The latest news on the anthology (in which my story, A Fistful of Earth will appear) is it now has a cover and a name. Even more exciting,  the forward will be by Anna Funder (Anna completed her Doctorate of Creative Arts at UTS and her work, All That I Am, went on to win the Miles Franklin).

Contract with Women NSW, a division of FACS (Family and Community Services)

Today I had another go at entertaining the clients of Glengarry with my reading group experiment.

We gathered about five people this time and I felt more prepared with some shorter pieces. I started off with some favourite poems like Auden's Funeral Blues and Thomas' Don't Go Gentle Into that Good Night. I have finally made good on a long-held wish to create a reading group for people in a nursing home. On New Year's Eve I sent out queries to facilities in my area, describing what I had in mind. By 4pm I had a very enthusiastic response from Glengarry in Mosman.

One of the perks of studying for the Masters of Creative Writing at the University of Technology, Sydney, is the right to submit work for the annual anthology. The UTS Writers' Anthology is launched at the Sydney Writers Festival in May and is gaining in prestige every year. Around 30 stories make it into the final publication.
